Not all the teaching is confined to the classroom!
During the year we often go on trips to the Theatre whenever there is something suitable on. Last year we went to the Point, The Helix, The Ark, The Gate, The Civic, The Pavillion and The SFX. We also have an annual trip to the West End in London for the Seniors and Young Adults and after the success of our trip to Broadway, New York in April  last  year we have booked again for March 2008!

Guest teachers and specialists
We regularly invite guest teachers and specialists in different aspects of theatre to run workshops last year these included Percussion, Breakdance, Physical Theatre, Audition Technique, Stage Combat, Make-Up and Salsa Dancing!

Short Play Festival
We like to promote our student’s own talents and creativity, and also to give everyone the chance to perform in front of an audience. Every year we run our own in house Original Short Play Festival. All the students work together to write, direct, produce and perform in their own original short plays in front of their friends and family and an invited panel of judges (including top casting directors and theatre professionals). Prizes are awarded in a range of categories. Last  year over 300 students took part in 47 short plays!

School Shows
ITW students perform in professional and amateur productions throughout the year including performances with Lyric Opera, Festival Productions, the Gate Theatre, Spotlight Productions, Opera Ireland and more.  Performing within the school they participate in our annual Short Play competition and our Musical Theatre Groups put on a production annually either in house or in a professional theatre.  Coming up our Drumcondra and Ranelagh Junior Musical Theatre groups are performing in house in May and our Senior Musical Theatre Group are performing Back to the 80's by arrangement with Joseph Weinberger Ltd in the Pavilion Theatre, Dunlaoighre on April 26th.  During the summer our intensive summer courses always culminate in full performances for parents and friends complete with costumes and sets.  Every  so often we will do a whole school show, recent productions include Once Upon a Time in the Liberty Hall Theatre and Grease is the Word in the Rupert Guinness Theatre in which all our students were involved both on stage and behind the scenes.

Recent  ITW productions include performances in  the Ranelagh Festival,  Nightmare Before Christmas  in The Mill Theatre, Dundrum. Our Senior Musical Theatre class did an in house production and photo shoot based on the movie Chicago,  Drumcondra Musical Theatre class performed Seussical Junior in Griffith College Theatre and our youth theatre  IYT have produced 9 shows  including Brokenville and School Journey to the Centre of the Earth, DNA, A Midsummer Nights Dream,  Karamazoo, Flourescent Adolescent and The Birdhouse. You can see Scenes from Family Life,  and Pteradactyls in the AXIS , Ballymun and in the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge in the coming weeks.

Notice Board and Newsletters
All events, term dates, auditions, photoshoots etc are posted on our noticeboard at classes each week and circulated by e-mail. Parents are also kept up to date with all the news via our newsletter ‘In the Spotlight’ once a term and any other information can be found on this website.
